I am looking for a specific article or topic and I am having trouble finding anything. Can you give me any advice?

NewsLibrary.com contains most, but not all, of the articles published by the newspapers we host, within the date ranges specified, covering only the more recent years of publication.

Please note that each newspaper may choose to store different content in their archives. Some articles such as obituaries, wedding announcements, syndicated columnists, and wire services may not be available for a particular newspaper. Most newspapers will not archive stock quotes, sports scores, death notices, or classified ads.

If you are having trouble finding just the right search terms to use, or if you are trying to narrow your search to find just the right set of articles, try using our advanced search features.

To find newspapers by state, click on the name of the state from the list on the home page.  You will be provided with a list of cities within that state.  Choose a city, and you will see the available publications for that area. You can then click on the publication name to view articles. (Note: Each page view counts as a document view against your total allotment.) You may also visit our complete source listing here: http://www.newslibrary.com/sourcelist.

You can use your browser's print function to print a hard copy of the newspaper article that you have purchased. You also have the option to save the article as a file on your desktop using your browser's save function. This will save the document as an HTML file that can be opened into your browser and printed later*. Remember that copyright laws prohibit using the article in electronic or hard copy forms, except for personal use. All articles purchased from NewsLibrary.com are for personal use and all copyright laws apply. If you want to republish an article in print or electronically, you must get permission from the newspaper.

Reprints, or copies of newspaper pages, are not available through NewsLibrary.com. Please contact the newspaper directly to inquire about the availability of this type of reprint.

*A valid membership is required to view saved articles. This option is not available for single purchase articles.

An article makes reference to a photograph or graphic, and even includes the caption for that photograph. Does your service provide the photographs as well as the text?

NewsLibrary.com contains only the text of the articles that appeared in the newspaper. Sometimes, this will also include the cutline, or caption, of the photographs that were published with the article. Contact the newspaper directly for reprints of published photographs, graphs, charts, or copies of published pages. Use the citation information provided by NewsLibrary.com to refer to the photograph you desire.

My search results returned no articles or an error message.

There may be several reasons why your search did not produce results. Here are some common cases:

SEARCH SESSION EXPIRED: The "search session expired" message is typically a technical problem caused by an overload of history and temporary internet files stored within your browser. You can remedy this by clearing cache and cookies from your browser.

This may also be caused by a long period of inactivity. You may refresh your browser, or return to www.newslibrary.com to start a new search session if you have not clicked any buttons for a while.

If your browser is not accepting cookies, change the setting by opening the screen for your browser's properties or preferences, find the section for the Cookie Settings (Look under Advanced) and just select the “Accept Cookies” option and apply the change.

OTHER:  If your search terms are too broad, the service may find too many related articles. You may be told that your search is too general and see no results. You will need to refine your search. You may enter additional terms and connect them with "and". Searching for any of your terms or using "or" to connect your terms in the advanced search will increase, not decrease, the number of articles found. If you are using advanced syntax, you may receive a syntax error if your search is constructed incorrectly. If you experience ongoing issues, please view the search help section, or contact support.

Something went wrong, or I am unhappy with the article. Can I get a refund?

Refunds are granted only in cases where you were not able to retrieve an article that you located. If you successfully retrieved an article, you are not entitled to a refund, even if that article did not contain the information you were looking for. If you were unable to view the full article, please e-mail customer service at  newslibrary@newsbank.com

I am looking for articles from a newspaper that is not listed on your page. Where can I get those articles?

NewsLibrary.com is a service used by newspapers to supply their archives on the internet and is limited to only those participating papers. Although we are continually trying to add more content to the service, not every newspaper will be available on the NewsLibrary.com home page. In these cases, we recommend that you visit the newspaper’s home page, your local library, or conduct a general internet search for the publication.
